Using the Library



Obtaining a library card:

A library card is available at no charge if you live in or own property in Salem. Non-residents may purchase a card for an annual fee.  Adult cards are available for anyone aged 12 or over. Children are invited to obtain cards from the Children's Department. See our policy for obtaining a library card here. Library cards for businesses and organizations located in Salem are available. Obtaining a library card online:

Salem residents may sign up for a library card online here. A temporary registration will be created for your immediate use reserving materials online. When you come to the library, you will need to complete the registration process. Please bring ID and be ready to sign your registration. You will receive your library card at that time.

Borrowing times and fines:

The borrowing period for most items is 2 weeks. New DVDs (Adult & Children's) and video games circulate for 7 days. See specific details here.

Reserving library materials:

You may reserve most materials found in the catalog belonging to Kelley Library and any GMILCS member library. Reserves can be placed in person, by phone (603-898-7064), or through our online catalog by using the
My Account
feature.

Renewing materials:

Most library materials may be renewed three times, unless there is a reserve on a title. DVDs, video games and museum passes cannot be renewed. You can renew in person, by phone (898-7064) or online by using the My Account feature.
