Raised on Songs & Stories: an Evening with an Irish Balladeer
with Paul Carroll

February 16th at 7PM

Paul grew up in Dublin during the ballad boom of the sixties where the pubs were packed with folk singers and ballad groups. It is there that he found a love for the music and songs that were to be part of his life.

Paul emigrated to Australia in the early 70’s but he never strayed very far from the music, singing in the folk clubs of Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. During his time in Melbourne he was a founding member of the Celtic band, Poteen, who were Australia’s premiere Celtic band, sharing the stage with icons like Eric Bogle, The Dubliners, The Fury’s and Boys of the Lough.

Join Paul Carroll for an evening of Irish music.

Meet the Author Night
Jennifer Vaughn discusses her novel Last Flight Out
February 29th at 7PM

Jennifer Vaughn, WMUR co-anchor, will speak at the Kelley Library in the first in a series of Meet the Author nights. Her first novel, Last Flight Out, is the story of being true to who you are, facing your own regrets, and maybe having the opportunity to set things right before it's too late. Ms Vaughn says her debut novel, "… includes a little bit of everything I've seen during my career thus far. A mix of politics sprinkled with a health crisis for my main character, and a touch of devious behavior to round it all out."

Ms Vaughn share insights into how she came to be a writer, and the pitfalls and successes of becoming a published author. Ms. Vaughn donates a portion of the proceeds from her novel to organizations dedicated to fighting breast cancer across New Hampshire, copies of the book will be available for sale after the presentation.

Meet the Author nights featuring local authors will be held quarterly throughout 2012. Visit our website frequently for updated information on events and services at the Kelley Library.
